Nick Fisher has carried the load before only to see Pahoa fall short against a Division I team.
The senior guard got the help he needed Tuesday night and the Daggers were able to spring the upset before their home fans.
Fisher scored 21 points and Randin Napeahi added 13 as Pahoa held on to surprise Kamehameha 59-57 in a Big Island Interscholastic Federation boys basketball game.
It’s the third time this season that Fisher’s scored at least 20 points. He’s averaging 19.4 per game for the Daggers (2-3), who snapped a three-game losing streak to move into first place in Division II in the East.
Senior guard Shaun Kagawa scored 21 points for the Warriors (3-2), who fell behind 31-23 at halftime before mounting a charge in the fourth quarter. Junior Micah Carter and senior Ilikai Calip added 10 points, but defending champion Kamehameha fell into last place among four D-I teams in the East.
The Warriors won the junior varsity contest 37-36.

Honokaa 63, Kohala 53: Cjay Carvalho led a balanced attack with 12 points as the Dragons handed the Cowboys their first loss of the season at Honokaa Armory.
Kazu Tolentino added 11 points, while Keahi Esquerra and Alika Alip had 10 apiece for the Dragons (3-1), who received 35 points from their bench.
Kealen Figueroa scored a game-high 20 points for the Cowboys (3-1), while Mikala Jordan added 13.
In the JV game, Honokaa beat Kohala 39-36 behind Sione Epenesa’s 14 points. Sandrex Ramos led Kohala with 11 points.

Konawaena 42, Hawaii Prep 35: Nick Mims scored 13 points at Onizuka Gymnasium as the Wildcats erased an eight-point halftime deficit.
Jonah Bredeson and Brenton Shropshire added eight points apiece for the Wildcats (3-0), who trailed 19-11 at halftime.
Kalan Camero led the Ka Makani (1-2) with 12 points, and Nicolas Palleschi added seven.

Keaau 53, Ka’u 43: Senior Sean Stone scored a game-high 19 points, and senior Davin Alviento followed with 16 in Pahala as the Cougars improved to 3-1.
Koa Esperon paced the Trojans (1-4) with 12 points, and Jansen Candaroma added 10.
In the JV game, Keaau beat Ka’u 51-34 behind Franklin Orcino’s 13 points. Renden Tavares scored a game-high 14 points for the Trojans.

Hilo 64, St. Joseph 29: Junior Mike Williams led the way with 12 points and the Vikings got balanced scoring at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium to quickly rebound from their first loss of the season.
Juniors Jodd Carter and Isaac Kaleiwahea scored 11 points and junior Isi Holani added 10 for the Vikings (4-1), who fell from the ranks of the unbeaten on Monday night against Waiakea.
Junior Ben Uhlmann finished with nine points for the Cardinals (0-4), and freshman Cole DeSilva had eight.
